The Story Behind
Every Perfect Pie

It all began in 1964, when Ed and Margie Imo opened a small pizza shop on Thurman Avenue in St. Louis, Missouri — determined to serve something truly unique to their neighborhood.

What made Imo's instantly recognizable was the cracker-thin crust, the sweet tomato sauce, and the one-of-a-kind Provel cheese blend — a St. Louis original that became inseparable from the city's identity. Word spread fast, and before long, Imo's became the go-to pizza of generations of families across the Gateway City.

Today, with dozens of locations and a loyal fan base that spans the country, Imo's remains committed to the same recipes, the same quality ingredients, and the same heartfelt dedication that Ed and Margie poured into every pizza six decades ago.

The First Imo's Opens

Ed and Margie Imo open their first pizza shop on Thurman Avenue in St. Louis, introducing the city to their cracker-thin crust and Provel cheese blend.

1972

Franchise Program Launches

Responding to overwhelming demand, Imo's launches its franchise program, allowing the St. Louis-style pizza to reach neighborhoods across the metro area.

25th Store Milestone
